Fall-time Work Party

Oct 17, 2017 | Announcement

We are planning a work-party and park cleanup to do maintenance on the park – On Saturday, November 4, from 8 till 12.

(The work party will happen in any weather less than a downpour or snow storm.)

Please respond on the volunteer page or contact Will via email or on Facebook if you are interested in helping. (Do note, this does qualify as volunteer hours for high school students’ requirements for the National Honor Society.) or feel free to just show up

The park will be CLOSED for normal usage during the work-party, but volunteers can bring their dogs to hang out in the training area while we humans make the park nice for them (and us).  [One human will be asked to keep watch on the dogs while the others work – with trade-offs for breaks.]

Things that needs to get done:

  • MOW!!
  • Rake wood chips off of path and back onto slope
  • Rake and pick up leaves from the park corners
  • Weed the mulch slope
  • Weed the hydrant circles
  • Weed the sand strip
  • Weed the brick entrance
  • Turn up the mulch in the areas around the hydrants
  • Trim brush and stumps in the Training Area
  • Trim brush at the front of the park and around the sign
  • General clean up of trash in the parking lot, along park borders, and inside park
  • Re-level the dirt against the far fence line left from the scout projects
  • Attach a blocking-fence between the shed and the main fence
  • Trim the grass in corners and along the fences
  • Re-set gravel and pea-stone around the main area water fountain
  • Other things that will occur to us between now and the end of the month

Things we STILL need people to donate, to help do this:

  • Large rocks to put in the park (the larger, the better)
  • Mulch (we can always use more mulch)
  • several bags of gravel and pea-stone

Things we need people to bring, to help do this:

  • shovels, leaf and lawn rakes
  • weed whacker(s)
  • hedge trimmer
  • wheelbarrows
  • Lawn mower(s)
  • Chainsaw and several stout ropes
