  1. Call to order: 6:48 pm
  2. Roll call:

  3. Approval of minutes from last meeting: Motion to approve the minutes from the August 2018 meeting as amended.

  4. Officer Reports
    • Website and Media Report (Will)
      1. CDP Group: 2,318 members (1920 active) 133/908/2630 (posts/replies/reactions) -Recent spike of new members
      2. CDP Page: 559/559 followers/likes, CDA Page: 800/776 followers/likes
      3. FB location rating 4.1 (40), google location rating 4.6 (76)
      4. Website redesign – comments? Overall positive feedback. A few suggestions regarding the adjustment of photo and video order in the drop down menu. Group agrees it best to be in chronological order. Suggestion made to have a list of pet friendly business on the website who would pay to have listing. Will to put together a proposal for approval.
    • Treasurer’s Report (Sandra)- Current balance $. Sandra to deposit the $ made from the Fall Farm Fair event. Will need to rent porta potty for Howl’ween per the Board of Health. Aerator purchase, $ for serve safe certification, $ for load of mulch for slope at park. 
    • President’s Report (Will)
      1. CDA Memberships: 22 Ind / 22 Fam(29 unrenewed since July 2017)
  5. Committee Reports
    • Fundraising/Events Committee Report
      1. Donations- Danielle presents bar graph of recent monetary donations from the collection boxes at the park since the beginning of September. $ was collected from the “small dog” side, and $ from the “all dog” side.
      2. Restaurant Fund Raisers
        1. Papa Gino’s (Jul) ~$
        2. Zesty’s (Aug)- Results unknown at this time
      3. Hannaford Bags Fundraiser- during the month of October, reusable grocery bags purchased at Hannaford will benefit the CDA.
      4. Chelmsford Fall Farm Fair- Successful event. CDA fundraised $-games, $-balloons, $ regular donations. Total money fundraised: $
      5. Chelmsford Fall Fest (Sept 23, 10-3 on the Common)- Canceled table due to lack of volunteer coverage.
      6. Howl’ween (Oct 13 10-2)
        1. Food permit (ServeSafe?) Will getting certified next week. Joyce to go to the Board of Health for permit.
        2. Porta Potty (ordered – $)- Will be located in DPW overflow parking lot.
        3. Volunteers (James Aloia coordinating)- Raffles, food table, registration table, merchandise table, floating help.
        4. Food & prices (Kathy coordinating) Market Basket catering (?)/or burgers & hot dogs, Zesty’s pizza donating cheese pizza’s, drinks, chips, candy.
        5. Events (Basket Raffles, Silent Auction, 50/50, prize games)- Not doing 50/50 this year. Silent auction bids online up and running- various gift cards available. Each vendor to donate raffle prize/basket.
        6. Contests & Prizes – Medals to be awarded to 1st place -3rd place winners of costume contests. 1st place winners to also receive Amazon gift card.
        7. Vendors (9 so far)- See CDA website for list of confirmed vendors.
        8. Judges- Joyce looking into getting three judges.
  6. Old Business/Open Issues
    • DPAC requests- Several concerns brought to CDA’s attention
      1. Summer Maintenance
        1. Grass growing efforts going well, sectioning off working great, rainy weather aided growth. Front sign of park, grassy areas near fencing, and the rain garden need to have regular maintenance/ weed whacking to prevent over growth.
        2. Possible for CDA to have monthly work parties in the spring and summer months to aide in maintenance?/ Supplement with hired landscaper once a month?
        3. Speak with Garden club if interested in maintaining planters.
      2. Winter Maintenance
        1. Park on low end of DPW’s plowing list, understandably. Does CDA have a back-up plan for plowing?
      3. Ongoing Maintenance & concerns to be addressed as soon as possible
        1. Possible to have regular patrol to pick up litter/trash along the street in front of the park?
        2. RAP in place for 9/29 work party?
        3. Dispose of unusable snow blower.
        4. Remove pile of pallets against fence in parking lot.
        5. Re-paint donation box
        6. Fencing in main area- remove to store, or install
        7. Filling in mud puddles
        8. Bottom of bookcase door warped- water getting in?/ Reinforce
      4. Budget for expense of leaking pump and possible floor repair
      5. Plan to replace trees- DPAC to reach out tree committee for assistance
    • September Work Party- Long list of improvements/clean up planned. Many of which, DPAC listed. Sarah to provide colored clothes pins per member suggestion of using to mark areas to be worked on.
    • Scout Eagle Project Status (approved)- Work has been started.
    • Nominations are open for (4) positions on the Board of Directors for a 2 year term (2019-2021). Nominations will remain open through October and the Vote will be held at the Annual Meeting (November).
  7. New business
    1. Discuss Rain Collection Barrel- Dog park goer suggested a rain barrel or other water collection system at park to alleviate some of the water costs. Discussed in length. Cons outweigh pro’s. For instance- stagnant water not good, where would it be put, possible locations discussed were not ideal. No definite decision reached.
