Autumn Work Party

Sep 4, 2018 | Announcement

We are planning a work-party to do the usual post-summer cleanup and maintenance on the park – On Saturday, September 29 from 8 till 12.

(The work party will happen in any weather less than a downpour.)

Please respond on the volunteer page or contact Will via email or on Facebook if you are interested in helping. (Do note, this does qualify as volunteer hours for high school students and the requirements for the National Honor Society.)

The park will be CLOSED for normal usage during this work-party, but volunteers can bring their dogs to hang out in the training area while we humans make the park nice for them (and us).  [One human will be asked to keep watch on the dogs while the others work – with trade-offs for breaks.]

Things that needs to get done:

  • Rake wood chips off of path and back onto slope
  • Clean the front area, around the sign, of brush and weeds
  • Fill in various holes around the park
  • Trim brush and stumps in the Training Area
  • General clean up of trash in the parking lot, along park borders and inside park
  • Turn over and add mulch to the Pee Circles
  • Spread the RAP gravel around the main entrances and small dog exit
  • Add RAP around the main area benches
  • Mow
  • Cut the grass in the timeout Kennels
  • Cut the grass around the border of the parking lot
  • “whack” the grass around the fences
  • Repair the berm of RAP around the base of the fence in places where wildlife have dug through
  • take down the “grass fence”, roll, and store
  • fence off the mud pit in the center of the park
  • Other things that will occur to us between now and the work party

Things we need people to donate, to help do this:

  • Large rocks to put in the park (the larger, the better)
  • pea stone

Things we need people to bring, to help do this:

  • Shovels, leaf and lawn rakes
  • Hedge trimmers
  • Something to trim stumps
  • Weed Whackers
  • Hole Digger and/or Auger
