2018 Chelmsford Dog Association Annual Meeting

Oct 31, 2018 | Announcement

The Chelmsford Dog Association Annual Meeting will be held on Thursday, November 29 in the Community Room at the Chelmsford Police Department (2 Olde North Rd, Chelmsford)

The CDA Board of Directors has 5 open (2 year) positions and 1 open (1 year remaining) position for election this year.

Nominations closed at the October Meeting.

We encourage all CDA members to attend and vote.

Only those present at the meeting may vote.

The following are the six (6) nominees for the six (6) Director positions on the board. (alphabetical)

  • Joyce Bean: (Incumbent) Joyce has been a member of the CDA since 2015. She was elected to the board in 2015 and served as Vice President from 2016 through 2018 and has been active in developing the sense of community on the small dog side along with her dogs Jett and Zoey. She is active with the CDA Events committee and is a Town Meeting Representative in Chelmsford. Joyce has also been involved with a Beagle Rescue group for the past 15 years.
  • Paul LaMadeleine: Paul has been a member of the CDA for just over a year now. He is a regular at the park and at the work-day maintenance events. In addition to the scheduled maintenance, Paul is one of the people instrumental in keeping the park looking nice, on a day-to-day basis, helping with the mowing and regularly emptying both the poop-trash barrels around the park and the large trash barrels at the front. In the past year, he has stepped up to become a social force in the main area, helping people with questions and issues. He is often at the park with his dogs Luna and Trinket multiple times during the day.
  • Sandra Robbins: (Incumbent) Sandra has been a member of the CDA and on the board since 2012. She served as Treasurer from 2013 through 2018 and has been critical in keeping the records and finances of the CDA on an even footing. Although her dogs don’t come down to the park, she is passionate about the CDA’s mission and supporting the park.
  • Sarah Creegan: (Incumbent) Sarah has been a member of the CDA since 2012. She served as Secretary from 2016 through 2018 and has been responsible for recording and reporting the records and minutes. Although her dogs don’t use the park, she’s active in the CDA events within the community. She made a start at blogging with her Brutus’s Blog here on the CDA website and serves on the Dog Park Advisory Committee (DPAC) for the town as well.
  • Vivian Merrill: Vivian was a founding member of the CDA in 2009. She served as President from 2009 through 2016 and was a driving force of the Association during that time. She writes the blog “A Dog’s Eye View”, originally on Chelmsford Patch and now on our site and serves on the Dog Park Advisory Committee (DPAC) for the town as well. Aside from her tireless work for the CDA and the town, Vivian has several jobs that keep her busy. Vivian left the board in 2016 and was appointed a director emeritus, but is now looking to return to an active role.
  • Will Wagner: (Incumbent) Will has been a member of the CDA since just after it started, in 2009. He has served as President from 2016 through 2018 and has been responsible for planning the regular work-day maintenance events as well as day-to-day maintenance, mowing, trash, recycling and general upkeep and planning. He maintains the CDA website and the various social media channels for the CDA. He can frequently be found at the park in the evenings with his dog, Violet. Will is also a Town Meeting Representative for Chelmsford and serves on the board of 2 other non-profit organizations.

Our November meeting is our annual meeting. The meeting will be held at the function room of the Chelmsford Police Department on Thursday, November 29 and will begin at 6:30PM.

Votes will be cast immediately following the opening agenda items and any current member of the Chelmsford Dog Association may cast a vote.

Elected directors will take office starting January 1 and the new board will vote to appoint the officers at the January meeting.

In addition to voting for the open positions, as always the CDA will also be reviewing the status of the organization, plans for the upcoming year and the current bylaws. We will hold discussion on suggestions for amendments and/or modifications to the bylaws if desired.
