I.      Call to order 6:33

II.      Roll call 

a.)    Board members present: Will, Joyce, Beth, Danielle, Vivian, Sarah, Sandra

b.)    Voting members present: Barbara, Kathy, Sam, Kari

c.)    Guests present: 2 -Kim and Sasha

III.      Approval of minutes from last meeting

Motion to approve the minutes from the February 2017 CDA meeting as amended

IV.      Public discussion

1.)    Kim and Sasha (mother, daughter) present idea to come to the Dog Park 2-3 week nights in the Summer to sell home-made dog ice cream at entrance of park. Vivian mentions they would need a Roadside Vendor’s License from the town, since the park is on town property. This can be procured from the Town manager’s office. Board of Health would also have stipulations that would need to be followed. Kim and Sasha to investigate and follow up with board.

2.)    Woman asks about kiosk – if it can be moved –no or get another kiosk for small dog park or in main entrance/ Donations- put one on the small dog, will need to find a secure way, no solution has come up as of yet. Can also go online, mail a check. CDA mailing address has changed recently to a PO box in N. Chelmsford.

3.)    Idea of “live strong” type rubber bracelets for CDA brought up

4.)    Idea of raffling off a brick at events mentioned.

5.)    Kathy donated lanyards with name tag holder for CDA members to wear

 

V.      Officer Reports

1)      Treasurer’s Report (Sandra)- $- Total balance

2)      Website and Media Report (Will)- Nothing new to report

3)      President’s Report (Will)- Replace sign that says large dog area only. To get quote from express signs from N. Chelmsford to do “all dog area” “all dog area exit.” Danielle mentions should get signs for time out kennels labeling what they are. $ each a sign. Total would be $ for two time out kennels, rental, entrance and exit signs.

VI.            Joyce makes a motion to purchase all 6 signs at  dollars each. Danielle seconds, vote unanimous.

VII.            Community preservation fund- possibly look into getting more funding. Currently have capital improvement funding from Stanton Foundation. We are not taxpayer funded. We are only using town land.

VIII.            Sponsorship plaques 12 in brass $ each, 5 in brass color plastic $ each,

Beth motions to order. Seconded: Joyce. Vote unanimous        

IX.      Committee Reports

4)      Fundraising/Events Committee Report

a)      Volunteer Fair- Kathy and Joyce @ 9:15 to set up. Joyce to p/u things at Mary’s- items to sell, tee shirts, forms, etc. Checklist for preparing for events- Joyce to create to help others trying to plan future events. Joyce asks about how many EZ ups. Will would like to replace EZ up that broke last year. Board to keep an eye out for good quality EZ Ups

b)      Wine Glass Painting March 22- 3 online signs ups so far/ $

c)      Chipotle Fundraiser- April 12th @ 5pm-9pm

d)      7th Annual Walgreens Dog Rally- May 20th 10-2 (Sat)- List of vendors to be sent to Kathy

e)      Pennies 4 Puppies- 12 Jars out in the community now. So far, one check cashed equaling $

f)       Donations- Donations increased overall in March. Danielle presents bar graph.

g)      Other events? – Woof Tracks/Approach from Chewy.com –tabled for next meeting/food and other dog supplies-Advertise on our website. Someone would start account with our CDA code, CDA will get $20/ Group decides no Savers or shoe fundraiser/ app for walking dog/cellphone recycling-cell phones day of drop off?- Tabled for next meeting.

5)      Membership and Volunteer Coordinator’s Report – No additional membership requests/Will to contact CHS for spring work party and mention Walgreens/ Will to follow up on current brick prices/  f/u on paid for bricks and who didn’t get them.

X.       Old Business/Open Issues

1)      Bricks

a)      31 paid orders, plus 2 8×8 recognition bricks, 3 replacement mini-bricks from Phase 1/ Need 100 for free shipping/ Will suggests possibly raffle brick(s) at Walgreens Dog Rally.

2)      Advanced Lawn Care – Quote to install benches and hydrants, quote and time for Spring time seeding/ Will to meet 3/9/17 to get quote for springtime seeding/ quote for bench install

3)      Boy Scout Eagle Project: Jonathan Puffer – lay bricks under large pavilion- Started fundraising/ Will got him an irrigation map

4)      Boy Scout Eagle Project: Bailey Berglund – build storage/equipment shed-Has begun planning on the shed/ Chelmsford Animal Hospital confirmed sponsorship

5)      Lease agreement, final approval/acceptance of wording and terms. (Vivian)- Finalized lease agreement form -Posted to website now. $35 for up to 2 hrs, $50- 2-4 hrs. $100 – 5+ hours/up to entire day. With $100 deposit/ renter will provide sign that area is reserved. Normal park rules suspended during rental time in rental area ONLY. /If training- allowed to use exit so not to bring untrained dogs through main park, until we get airlock.

6)      Outdoor bookshelf (Will)- Will has begun construction of bookshelf. Lending Library Exterior plywood sealed plexi glass doors with outdoor paint

7)      DPW contact for Spring Work- Will has made contact to some work at the park and has not heard back.

8)      Memorial Plaques for the permanent structure donations- see above

a)      7 Plastic (to be mounted on a stake, in the ground near the tree, garden or hydrant),

b)      14 metal (to be mounted on the bench or structure) [engraved brass or cast bronze?]

9)      Vivian- Composed draft for Town’s Open Space and Recreation Plan Update. Will send to board to review.

XI.      New business

1)      Replacement signs for “Large Dog” area (re-word as “All Dog”?)

2)      Entry/Exit signs for Training Area (assuming parking lot entrance gets built)

3)      Loss of sapling trees (drought last summer, snapped during winter)- 3 trees lost/ 3 remaining trees are budding. Will suggests that any trees in the future be larger than a sapling. Will to look into guarantee with nursery to get trees.

4)      2017 Taxes- Meeting with Beth L. within the next month to file.

5)      Spring Work Party for park maintenance- Will need to plan around spring seeding- first weekend in April?

6)      Parker Tag Sale- March 25th table paid for.
