Minutes – Chelmsford Dog Association Meeting

Monday May 8, 2013 7:00PM

Chelmsford Police Dept. Community Room, 2 Olde North Rd. Chelmsford

Call to Order: 7:11PM

Present: Vivian, Erik, Beth B, Danielle, Bill C, Sandra, Mary

Not Present: Bill B,

 

*Roll Call.

Present: Vivian, Erik, Beth B, Danielle, Bill C, Sandra, Mary

Not Present: Bill B, Will, Lee, Rosie

*Approval of the Minutes of the preceding meeting.

Motion to approve the minutes of March 27, 2013 as presented/amended:  Erik

Seconded: Bill L.

Vote: unanimous

 

*Erik made a motion to buy a CDA easy-up

*Fundraising Events-

Flea Market, May 18th 9-1

-10 vendors confirmed to date

*Mary will contact Panera for pastries

-Danielle, Mary, Sandra, Vivian will be there

Erik and Bill L. aren’t sure

-Vivian will work on signs this weekend

 

-Walgreens Dog Rally June 22nd

Please spread the word!

-We will decorate cookies again.  We’ll try to make dog bone shaped cookies

 

*Mary and Sandra have a good friend in marketing and she spent an hour recently looking at our stuff and she wants to come up with a logo… something that would be more appealing to small children.  We are waiting to see what she comes up with.  If she can help us get the word out about our events, that would be the best thing for us.

*Old and Unfinished Business.

-Post  Spring Town Meeting-Yes, we can!

-503(c) update, IRS is working on March applications. Ours was filed in April.

-confirm parade float info & draft application –We want to do a dog park theme

-coloring page for this year’s contest – Will will work on that

 

*New Business.

Grants:

-Foundation – They reached out to Paul Cohen.  The grant is structured so that the municipality has to put up 10% of the construction cost, and come up with a long term plan from a municipal employee to show that we are serious about this.  Evan Bulanski said he’s help us.

*$15,000-$25,000 preliminary design grants

*Construction $160,000-$240,000

*Post Construction capped at 5% of funding cost

*We need a commitment from the town to fun 10%

*There is clean up of rubble that needs to be cleaned up/ “Capped”  Can use the town’s costs of this towards the 10%?

 

-Bark for the Park – as of yesterday we had 35 votes

 

 

*Danielle asked if it would be possible to use the dog park location for Howl’ween?  It will depend on how soon the DPW moves and gets rid of the rubble pile

 

*Erik posed the idea of leaving some of the rubble, and covering it with loam to make a grassy knoll in the

 

-Next Meeting Date: Wednesday June 12th – Erik will try to get police station  meeting room

 

*Adjournment motion: Mary at 8:32

Things we have/still need

Plastic table cloths-have 1, need more- possibly buy a roll of table cover

E-Z up, Mary will buy a new one: 10X10 no more than $100 each

T-Shirts-ok for now,

-coloring contest- prizes.

-Walgreens will provide hotdogs, soda and chips

 

-CDA staffed events so far: face painting, temporary tattoos, nail painting(Cassie)

Coloring contest (Will working on a picture) SWAG, decorating dog bone cookies- NEED:

-cookies

-frosting, sprinkles, etc.

-face paints

-temp. tattoos

-nail polishes and remover-Cassie

-extra coloring pages and crayons for more entries

-Coloring contest judges

-paper towels, old rags (Merrill)
