Springtime Work Party

The CDA is planning a work-party to do spring-time cleanup maintenance on the park – On Saturday, April 6, from 8am till 12pm.

(The work party will happen in any weather less than a downpour.

The park will be CLOSED for normal usage during this work-party, but volunteers can bring their dogs to hang out in the training area while we humans make the park nice for them (and us).

Weir Hill Reservation, Cochichewick Loop

So, this was a long loop of a trail. Entering from the "Stevens Estate" lot, there is a short "feeder" trail to get to the main reservation area. I DEFINITELY suggest heading to the LEFT as you start the loop trail. The left starts with several hills, so take them on...

Navigation Brewing Co. Chelmsford

Not a hike... but something that falls under "other fun"! Maizey and I attended to soft-open of the Navigation Brewing Company Brewhouse on Feb 21 in Chelmsford Center. This is located in the building to the right as you head south through the Center - where the...

Georgetown-Rowley State Forest

We took a hike through the Georgetown-Rowley State forest along with another friend and dog. The path was NOT well-marked. As you can see from the walked-trail on the map, we missed the trail as suggested by the All-Trails app. Additionally, we ended up heading down...

Middlesex Fells Skyline Trail

The Middlesex Fells is a reservation area that spans a large space in Medford and Winchester that surrounds the reservoir. We started at a trailhead on the Medford side near the tower. Although we had intended to do the Skyline Trail for the whole distance - the trail...

Ward Reservation – Graham Trail to Vetter Trail Loop

This was one of our favorite hikes. Along the way, there are some really nice views, including the Boston skyline which is visible from several hilltops. This trail also includes a hilltop which is the highest point in Essex County. This starts at a location owned by...

Great Book Farm / State Forest (Carlisle)

There are a large number of trails that criss-cross this property. We started with the Pine Point Loop. This 2-mile trail has several spin-off loops if you want to add some additional distance. It’s a very easy walk. In mid-February, there were still some sections that were very icy, very muddy, or both. Some sections were still snow-covered as well.

Cranberry Bogs (Chelmsford/Carlisle)

The Cranberry Bog Reservation stretches between Chelmsford and Carlisle. There is parking on Elm Street in Chelmsford and on Curve Street in Carlisle. The loop is just over 2 miles — but, be aware, there are several dead end trails that end in private back yards.

The Chelmsford Dog Park is located at:
52 Richardson Rd, North Chelmsford

The park is currently: OPEN

Dog Owner Reviews

took my puppy here once on the way home from a visit and I’m so glad I did! the dog park is very large, with a separate puppy area and a partially closed off ‘training’ area that could be used for a spot to chill for a minute. gazebo in the middle, benches, a covered picnic area, and plenty of pet-friendly water fountains. overall it was a very positive experience, will definitely be back!

Bring Fido Review, Nov 2022

Best kept dog park in the area. I normally prefer to take alfie of leash hiking but when you need some extra socializing it’s great. Big and small dog areas. Time out pens. Obstacles, and just enough parking so it doesn’t get crazy packed. The people that go there / support it really take care of it. While they are watching their dogs they are taking and picking up leaves as well…

I am new to this park and have wonderful experiences! This past weekend however, I hadn't been there even 5 minutes and a woman was feeding my dog a treat. Some dogs, like people have allergies for one thing. You could, by handing out treats of any kind, make a dog sick or even cause death! Secondly,, many dogs are food aggressive. Bringing tteats/food is simply asking for trouble! Before I could say anything to her, another dog wearing a "PLEASE DO NOT PET" harness, (I noticed him/her as we arrived as he/she growled at us through the fence!!), suddenly went after my dog in a very aggressive manner. I yelled, very loudly and thankfully stopped the "interaction". The owner, who was sitting in the shade several yards away, never even moved, except to say his dog's name, (barely audibly). When asked by a woman if his dog was friendly he responded, "Yah, he likes other dogs." All of this happened in less than 6 minutes and sadly I decided to leave. My dog isn't perfect and anyone who thinks their own is, is kidding themselves. They're wild animals at their core. It's our job to help make them the best and happiest they can be. I realize the park can't be monitored at all times. We are so lucky to have such a wonderful place to take our dogs! I hate to think that a few irresponsible people can ruin it for those who follow the rules and do the right thing. The vast majority of people and dogs have been so friendly and nice, and that's as it should be.

In my opinion it's the best dog park around. The only downside is the grass is gone so it gets muddy. The dogs and their people are all very friendly. Its clean and there is lots of room to run and play.

I love this place and so does my dog,,theres so many different dogs for her to play with,,most of the people are friendly but there's a few snobs,,thats fine too,, im not there to socialize I'm there to have fun with my dog,, I guess my biggest complaint would be that some people tend to just let there dog in and when the dog needs to be "reprimanded" the owners on the other side of the park on the phone or whatever,,just not paying attention,, otherwise this is my dogs favorite dog park and we'll be back asap

Great park & a lot of amazing people you meet here. Not ideal for medium dogs. My 30 pound dogs was bitten 3 times in one month by other large dogs while irresponsible owners stand there. If your dogs is 10x larger than you & you can’t control them. You & your dogs shouldn’t be here & putting others at risk. Then have the audacity to interrogate me. Because my dog is over 5 pounds, they are not allow to play on the smaller dog sections. Today was the 3rd incident, I will be seeking alternative for my dogs social life.

This my pup’s favorite place in the world. The Friends of the Chelmsford Dog Park has worked very hard to make sure that there is grass for pups to run and roll in and there are multiple poop bins with poop bags located above them so you can pick up after your pup. It’s very clean and friendly.During Covid they’re requiring everyone to wear masks at the park to keep it safe and open. It’s busy most of the weekend but evenings and mornings are pretty quiet. There’s a side for pups under 25lbs and another for all sized dogs with an additional area that can be closed off and rented for small gatherings. If you see my crazy pup (from the photos) feel free to say hi! It’s the friendliest dog park in New England!
