Spring Yard Sale

The Chelmsford Dog Association is hosting a spring yard sale on Saturday, May 31, 2014, to benefit the construction and maintenance of a public dog park at 54 Richardson Road in Chelmsford.

Please consider donating your reusable items to the yard sale.

Item Drop-off locations:

  • 23 Maple Road
  • Chelmsford Dog Pound (2 Old North Road, behind the Police Station)

The Chelmsford Dog Association is a 501(c)3 charitable organization, and all donations are tax deductible (with a receipt, given upon request)

CDA Summer Training on the Common Schedule

All classes are 6:30-7:30PM Mondays-     On The Town Common!


Session 1-Beginners (formal training)


May 12, May 19, June 2, June 16

Teaching simple commands — sit, down, stay, recall (come), leave it, drop it, and walking on leash
Teaching techniques for faster training — like behavior markers
Resolving problems like jumping on people
Teaching self control


Drop-in class

$5/class     (can attend just one or any number of these classes)

Addressing questions and reviewing training issues

Session 2-Intermediate (formal Training)

More commands including “down” from a distance, “look back”, “around” (untangle the leash), etc.
Improving commands taught in beginners (like longer stays, better recalls, and commands at a distance)
Teaching techniques for switching between hand and voice commands.
Training techniques that allow you to link behaviors (e.g., the “bang, you’re dead” trick is a down and roll over combined and commanded using a hand signal)

Our November meeting is our annual meeting. The meeting will be held at the function room of the Chelmsford Police Department on Wednesday, November 13 and will begin at 7PM.

Director and Officer positions are currently open for nomination and we will accept nominations (with a second) up to 7:30PM on Wednesday, November 13. Any nomination must be submitted and seconded by current member(s) of the Chelmsford Dog Association before this time. Votes will be cast immediately following the close of nominations and any current member of the Chelmsford Dog Association may cast a vote (and please do note that this include ANY member of the CDA, not just the current directors). The nominee must be present to accept the nomination.

– Officer positions: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer — Director positions:  (5 directors)

Elected directors and officers will take office starting January 1.

In addition to voting for the open positions, the CDA will also be reviewing the current bylaws and hold discussion on suggestions for amendments and/or modifications to the bylaws. The current bylaws can be viewed at:

Paint For The Dogs


Please join us Saturday, September 21 from 7-9pm for a Painting Party to benefit the Chelmsford Dog Park.  The event is hosted by Markus + Leslie and will be held at 37 Central Square, Chelmsford Center.  The event includes a basic painting lesson, where participants will be painting parts of a dog themed picture that will all fit together to make a 6′x8′ mural. The finished group mural will be displayed proudly at the Chelmsford library!! Be a part of Chelmsford Doggy History!!!  There will be hors d’oerves and drinks available.
