A Dog’s Eye View: You Ate What???

I created an online survey where people told me the strangest things their dog has eaten and not make himself (or herself) sick. The following list has me convinced me we are all surrounded by Bad Dogs to such a degree, that when my major policy renewal season is over at the insurance agency, I may just start petitioning the State Legislature to make Chronic Bad Dog Syndrome (CBDS) an ailment worthy of allowing me to obtain an ADA placard for my car, and maybe install some sirens and flashing lights. Simply because when I need to get to the emergency vet, I need to get in there RIGHT NOW, and really, really need the closest parking space in order to minimize distance to their front door.

Playing at the Dog Park

Lisa Bert of Fingers and Paws Dog Training., along with Animal Control Officer Erik Merrill, donated their time for two days for the “Should I Stay or Should I Go?” seminars that were held at the Chelmsford Police Station in March. The goal of the seminars was to show folks how to decide whether their dog is comfortable at the Dog Park. She presented hints on dog body language and how dogs think when they meet a new dog. Lisa also stressed the importance of not being distracted by things like your cell phone and other people while at the park.

The Many Faces of Loki

The Many Faces of Loki

My son named this fluff ball after the Norse God of Mischief, after he himself smuggled him into the house while I was outside one night, as a gift for his grandmother. At the time, the dog was 10 weeks old, and as many pounds. The only reason Smokey allowed him in, was because they were the same size. Smokey hates big dogs. And now that Loki is 4 years old and 38 lbs, to Smokey, they are still the same size. Hence, Phoenix & Yukon are also allowed to stay.

Mugsy’s Pug Life

This is Mugsy, our 13 year old Pug. He used to roam all over the yard, but now that he’s blind and deaf, he won’t even go outside anymore. Some days, it’s not even worth trying to find the piddle pads.

And for this reason, I’ve chosen to protect their true identity by using photo renderings of them. The irony is, the photos still show off their real personalities.

A Dog’s Eye View: Relaunched!

A Dog’s Eye View: Relaunched!

It’s been about three years since I’ve written an article for this series. It’s time I got going again. Our dogs have done countless numbers of noteworthy things that must be chronicled, lest their memory fade away to nothing. Not to mention the exploits of all the other critters that willingly hang out with us.
