Come WALK for a Dog Park

As part of the Third Annual Chelmsford Walgreens Dog Rally!

Prizes and Incentives:Prizes will be given to the top three fundraisers!

Frequently Asked Questions:

What is the goal of the Walk-a-thon?  The goal of the Walk-A-Thon is to raise money to help the Chelmsford Dog Association in constructing a Public Dog Park, to be located at 54 Richardson Rd. in Chelmsford. Walgreens has been hosting the Annual Dog Rally as a way to give back to the community of Chelmsford through this worthwhile organization.

When are Registration Forms due?  Registrations are due by June 8, so we have an estimate of how many people plan to walk, and we can plan grab bags accordingly.

When are Donation Forms and Money due?  Donation forms and money are due on the day of the Rally. You may complete one donation form per walker, or per family.

When do we walk?  Walkers can come to Walgreens anytime during the Rally, between 10:00AM-2:00PM. The Rally ends at 3PM. During the Rally, you may visit our vendors, have some lunch, watch the demonstrations or participate in some of the activities throughout the day.

Where will we walk?  Walkers will travel the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail starting at the entrance directly across from Walgreens. You will walk to a checkpoint approximately one mile away, and then walk back to Walgreens.

When will we get our prize?  At the Registration Table at the Dog Rally. The prize for the Most Money Raised will be given at the end of the Rally.

What about Parking?  Parking is available behind Walgreens.

Want to Volunteer or have questions?  Contact Steve Newcomb at Walgreens-978-250-8170, or e-mail the Chelmsford Dog Association at cda@chelmsforddogassociation.org.

The Medical Reserve Corps system is a federal initiative that was launched in July 2002,as part of a larger structure that encourages volunteer participation across the United States.

Because of a FEMA grant that was awarded to the Upper Merrimack Valley MRC unit, they are offering a choice of four FREE public education sessions about pet preparedness in case of disaster. The bottom of the linked page provides details about each of the four events in our area.

According to the UMV-MRC site, these sessions are intended to help the region’s pet owners learn about measures they can take to care for their animals in emergencies.

Each event will be followed by a training session for MRC members who are interested in volunteering at a pet-friendly emergency shelter in case of disaster.

A handout and associated poster are being distributed at locations across the region. A similar flyer is being mailed in early February to over 12,000 pet owners in Billerica, Chelmsford, Dracut, Lowell, Tewksbury, Tyngsboro, and Westford.

Many thanks to the Chelmsford Decorating Committee for sponsoring the Santa on the common during the Holiday Prelude. As our contribution to the community, a member of the Chelmsford Dog Association took the pictures of kids, adults and pets with Santa and we have posted the full-quality digital images in our gallery.

There are 385 pictures that were taken (Santa was a BUSY man). Some groups were shot more than once, some only once. You can take a cruise through the pictures and download images of you or your kids (or your dog) with Santa to print by clicking on the thumbnail and then right-clicking on the image that comes up and selecting “Save Image As…” (then save it to your local computer.)
